Juozapas (Juozas) Macys was born 5 Oct 1881 and baptised 6 Oct in 1881 in Reibeniai, Zargare, Lithuania, the son of  Marcijonas Macys and Barbora Motuzaite. Godparents were Juozapas Drugys and Elzbieta Macyte.

Joseph's first passenger list to the US has yet to be found.

Susana Maizicze, 19, came to the US on 4 Sep 1906 aboard the Noordam. She is traveling from Rybin to Chicago along with Alenander Berlulis, 30 and Marrian Srogis, 17.  The three are going to Juozes Macis in Chicago. Alenander and Marrian list him as half-brother while Susana lists him as brother.

The SS Noordam was a 12,531 ton passenger liner of the Holland America Line, sailing mostly between Rotterdam and New York [Wikipedia]

On the 23 Sep 1906 in Chicago Joseph Macius, son of Martini and Barbara Macius married Zozanna Maizicze, daughter of Clement and Magdalane Macius, at the Providence of God Catholic Church.

Providence of God church

On 29 Sep 1907 the couple's first daughter, Joan, was born. She was baptized on 2 Oct 1907 at Providence of God church. [While her record says baptized 1908 all the other records on the pages are dated 1907].

Son Edward Joseph was born 21 Apr 1910 in Chicago. He registered his birth 3 Jul 1942, certificate 169225.

The 1910 Federal Census of Chicago taken 22 Apr 1910 has Joseph and family living at 2040 Ruble? Street. Joseph is 26, married 4 years, born Russia/Lith, to US 1905, laborer at freight house; Susie, wife, 22, married 4 years, 2 children born, 1 living, born Russia/Lith. to US 1907; Joseph (written over something erased), son (written over daughter erased), age 2, born IL.

[There are several errors with this record. First Susan came to the US prior to her 1906 marriage, second Susan has two children both living - Joan who would be age 2 and Edward Joseph who was born in Apr 1910, possibly the day before the census taker visited.]

Daughter Susan (Zuzana) was born 27 Aug 1911 in Chicago. Her birth was not registered until 7 Feb 1924, certificate #14832.

The family then returns to Lithuania where daughter Catherine was born on 4 Jan 1913. She had her birth registered 25 Aug 1943, as being born in Chicago, certificate #249935

Joseph returns to the US in 1913 after Catherine's birth.
