Paul Adam Miller 1806-1882

Paul Adam Miller was born 21 Sep 1806 in Gersheim, Saarland, Germany, the son of Adam Jacob Miller and Catherina Mischo

Elisabetha was born in 1813, the daughter of Jacob Vincent and Maria Elizabeth Cammi, baptized in Gersheim.



The couples first known child was Jacob Miller, born 14 Dec 1839 in Gersheim, Saarland, Germany, baptized in Gersheim.



Son Paul, Jr. was born 10 Jul 1841 in Gersheim and baptized there.



Son Joannis was born 28 Dec 1843 in Gersheim. [He died before 1846.]



Elisabetha died between 1843 and 1846.

Paul married 17 Jun 1846 in Gersheim to Margaret Theis,.

Margaret was born 9 May 1816 in Gersheim, the daughter of George Theis and Catherina Rittigeer.


Paul, Margaret, Jacob and Paul, plus Margaret's father Georg immigrated to the United States, arriving in New York 19 Aug 1846. The family sailed from Le Harve, France on the ship Jupiter. Paul, 38, farmer; Margaret, 26; Jacob, 6; Paul, 4; Georg Theis, 65, farmer.




Daughter Catherine was born 17 Mar 1847.

Paul's mother, Catherine died 1 May 1849; his father Adam died in 1851. Both are buried in St. Bernard's cemetery.


Daughter Mary Anna (or Anna Mary) was born 29 May 1851 in New Washington, Crawford, Ohio and baptized the same day at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.


Son Adam Frank was born 28 Feb 1853 in New Washington and baptized at St. Bernard's.




Son John Barnhart was born 26 Feb 1855 in New Washington and baptized at St. Bernard's church



Son Francis Jacob was born 17 Mar 1860 in New Washington and baptized at St. Bernard's church

Son Jacob was married 30 Oct 1865 in Ottoville, Putnam, Ohio to Helena Bendele.



Daughter Catherine was married 23 Oct 1866 to Peter D. Studer and daughter Barbara was married 29 Oct 1866 to Thomas Worm




Son Paul married Sara Elizabeth Wank/Wenk 26 Jan 1869 in Ottoville, Putnam, Ohio [record not found].

Son Barnhart/Bernard was married 14 Nov 1877 to Louisa Karm in Crawford county.



Daughter Mary married Henry Tithoff.

1880 Federal Census Cranberry township, Crawford county, Ohio lists Paul, 72, retired, born Reinheim; Margaret, 67, wife, born Reinheim; Adam, 27, son, laborer, born Ohio; Franklin P., 20, son, laborer, born Ohio.



Paul died 12 Mar 1882 in New Washington and is buried at St. Bernard's.




Son Adam was married in 1882 to Caroline Angst.

Son Francis was married 4 Jul 1882 in Crawford county to Rosa Faith


1900 Federal Census - New Washington, Crawford, Ohio. Margaret, mother, born May 1816, 84, widowed, 10 children born, 6 children living, born in Germany, came to US in 1846. She is living with son Frank. The family above is son J. Barnet, the family below is step-son Paul.



Margaret died 21 Apr 1901 in New Washington. Her obituary was in the Evening Telegraph on 22 Apr 1901.
