Peter Zoulek was born 16 Apr 1840 in Milevsko, Bohemia (Czech Republic). He was the sixth known son of Frantisek Zoulek and Anna Kalalova.

Peter's brother Frantisek was the first to come to American. He had married Anna Wana 17 Sep 1855 in Horni Zahori, Bohemia, and requested his baptismal record 4 Jun 1860 for migration. Frantisek and family settle in Chicago.
In 1862 Peter married Antoine Schmchtel. She was born 18 Jun 1840 in Bohemia.
Peter's brother John and his wife Mary Kuntz, emigrated to America in 1863, and settled in Winneshiek county Iowa.
Peter and Antoine had two daughters before leaving for America. Passenger list not yet found.
They stopped first in Chicago where both children died, aged 1 and 2 years. On 4 Jul 1870 they moved to Traverse City, Grand Traverse, Michigan aboard the steamer Allegheny.
Peter has not been found in the 1870 federal census, but his mother, Anna, is listed with his brother Joseph's family in Peninsula township, Grand Traverse county.
Son Peter was born 15 May 1871 in Peninsula township.

Son Louis was born 20 Mar 1874 in Peninsula township.

All the children were born in Michigan. Peter's mother, Anna, 86, was living nearby with Mary, widow of brother Joseph.

Son Philip was born 10 Jul 1883. Sadly he died 17 days later on 27 Jul 1883. He is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City.

Son Anthony married on 14 Nov 1893 to Clara Lardie.
Peter purchased additional land in Peninsula township on 24 May 1893 in section 16 from the State of Michigan and on 9 Jan 1894 in section 15 from George B. Ball. [See record above].
Son Amos was married 7 Mar 1898 in Traverse City to Ella Bourassa.
Son Peter Jr. died 5 Oct 1898.
Peter Jr. was buried at Oakwood cemetery in Traverse City.

"St. Joseph Cemetery was established in 1898 on the west side of Center Road, between Island View Road and Cherry Hill Road. 1/2 acres of land was donated by John Matilda Hoffman, and another 1/4 acre was donated by Lawrence Carroll. Frederick Zoulek was the first buried, August 12, 1899. The cost of a burial plot was five dollars."
Baby Frederic, grandson of Peter was born 13 May 1899 and died 18 Aug 1899. He was the son of Amos and Ella.

From the Traverse City Evening Record of 6 Sep 1901 it is learned that Peter fell from his wagon. [While Peter Jr has daughters born before 1901 they would be still young at the time, so the Peter is the paper is most likely Peter Sr. and daughter Caroline.]
Son Lewis married 16 Feb 1904 in Traverse City to Flora Shepard.
Daughter Caroline married Vencil J. Kauer on 21 Sep 1904 at St. Francis church in Traverse City.
The Traverse City Evening Record of 27 Sep 1904 tells of the wedding.
The Traverse City Evening Record of 28 Mar 1907 tells of Peter and wife selling land in section 22 to son Louis for $1.00.

She was buried in the Catholic section of Oakwood cemetery in Traverse City.
Her obituary appeared in the Traverse City Record Eagle on 31 Dec 1910.
The Grand Traverse Herald tells that the sons of Peter's brother Joseph, living in East Jordan, attended her funeral.
Son Lewis Peter registered for the draft on 10 Sep 1918. He gives his birth as 20 Feb 1874, married and a farmer, described as medium height and weight, blue eyes and brown hair.

Peter died 10 Sep 1923 in Traverse City.
He was buried in Oakwood in Traverse City.
