Anton Wolf

Anton Wolf was born 23 Apr 1820 in Kleinbullesheim, Euskirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Prussia, the second son of Martin Wolf and Anna Margaret Heubach.

Anton came to America with his parents and siblings, arriving in New York on 2 Jul 1845 aboard the ship Brutus. He is listed as 25 years old and a farmer.



The 1850 Federal Census of Wayne township, Washington county, Wisconsin, lists Anton, age 30, farmer, born Germany, with his parents, Martin, 64, farmer, real estate valued at $800, born Germany and Margaret, 62, born Germany and brother John, 24, farmer, born Germany.


Anton married Anna Gazack in Wisconsin (marriage record not yet found).

Their first child, Gertrude, was born 24 May 1854, followed by son John in 1855.

Daughter Franceska was born 2 May 1857, baptized 10 May 1857, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.

The next child is Henry, born 14 Feb 1859, baptized 14 Mar 1859, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



The 1860 Federal Census of Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin: Anton, 40, farmer, real estate value $1000, personal estate value $150, born Prussia; Anna, 24, born Prussia; children, all born in Wisconsin, are Gertruth, 6; John, 5; Franciska, 3; Henry, 1.


Son Mathias was born and baptized 18 Aug 1860 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



Son Valentine was born 7 Sep 1862, baptized 14 Sep 1862, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



Daughter Maria Margaret was born 19 Nov 1864, baptized 21 Nov 1864, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.


Son Anton was baptized 7 Mar 1867 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



Twin daughters Catharina and Anna were born 11 Feb 1869, baptized 12 Feb 1869, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



The 1870 Federal Census of Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin: Anton, 51, farmer, real estate value $3500, personal estate value $500, born Prussia; Anna, 36, keeping house, born Prussia; children, all born in Wisconsin, are John, 15; Franciska, 12; Henry, 10; Mathias, 8; Margreth, 6; Anton, 4; and twins Anna and Catharina, 1.

Children missing from the 1870 census are Gertrude and Valentine. Gertrude Wolf, age 16, domestic service, is living in Hartford, Washington county. It is probable that Valentine died prior to this census.

Daughter Elizabeth was born 28 Apr 1871, baptized 30 Apr 1871, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.



Daughter Gertrude married Henry Quince 28 Jul 1872 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Daughter Christina was born 16 May 1873, baptism record not yet found.

Daughter Francisa married Michael Giesen 12 Jul 1877 in Washington county.



The 1880 Federal Census, Village of St. Lawrence, Washington county, Wisconsin: Anton, 61, laborer, born Prussia; wife Anna, 48, keeping house, born Prussia; children Anton, 13; Katy, 11; Anna, 11; and Christina, 8, are all born Wisconsin and attending school. Mathias, 18 is listed as a laborer living in the same house. [Missing are John, Henry, Valentine, Margaret, and Elizabeth - the girls are not yet married].



Daughter Margaretha married Hermann Schran 18 Nov 1884 in Milwaukee.

Son Mathias married Emma Wetzel 27 Jun 1886 in Milwaukee.

Anton died 15 Sep 1886, buried 17 Sep 1886. Died in St. Lawrence, Wisconsin. Burial unknown.

Daughter Catharina married John Baertlein 10 Apr 1888 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, Wisconsin.


Daughter Anna married Nicolas Heder 15 Oct 1889 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, Wisconsin

Daughter Elizabeth married Michael Kreuser 7 Nov 1893 in Milwaukee.

Daughter Christina married Joseph Wolf 12 Jun 1894 in Milwaukee.

The 1900 Federal Census states Anna is living with daughter Anna and her husband Nicholas Heder in Addison, Wisconsin.



Anna died 29 Jun 1906 in Milwaukee as recorded at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, Wisconsin.
